CASCADE project partners Matteo Jucker and Gudrun Schwilch, both working at UNIBE-CDE in Switzerland, have both delivered an oral presentation at the international General Assemblee of the European Geophysical Union 2015 in Vienna, Austria. Also Angeles Garcia Mayor, currently working for Wageningen University, presented a paper on one of Europe's largest scientific conferences. Matteo started off with his presentation entitled 'Challenges in the participatory assessment of sustainable management practices in dryland ecosystems under regime shifts' . Later in the morning, Gudrun presented her presentation called 'Sharing evidence of sustainable land management impacts' .
Angeles presented an interesting paper called 'Is the current increase in fire recurrence causing a shift in the soil fertility of Iberian ecosystems?' , directly connecting the 'catastrophic shift' hypothesis with soil fertility under influence of fire recurrence.
Their presentations were given in an interesting session convened by Baron Orr, called 'Optimizing the impact of science: Translational research and stakeholder engagement to identify sustainable land management based adaptation for challenges posed by environmental change' (Session SSS2.15)
